Layers of history
About the Artwork
This painting was created following an artist residency in the eternal city, Rome. Very subtle image transfers are embedded within the coliseum wall behind the central figure, capturing fragments from Rome’s most famous structures, many of which have been ever present for the last 2000 years. Within the woman’s shadow are personal photos from her time in the city, capturing the treasured memories from her visit. Just one example of countless memories and stories being forged within the ancient history of one of the most famous places in the world.
