by Queenswill Bestman Apr 23, 2025
Art.Africa, in collaboration with the Barbican Library, invites you to Echoes of Identity: A Contemporary Narrative — a groundbreaking African art exhibition in London, running from May 2 to May 28, 2025.
This carefully curated exhibition brings together the works of emerging and established artists from across Africa and the diaspora, exploring themes of cultural memory, migration, identity, and artistic freedom. The show is co-curated by Sani Sani and Femi Odunlami, founder of Art.Africa.
What Is Echoes of Identity About?
In a world where identities are often shaped by history, migration, and dual nationality, Echoes of Identity asks:
How do artists carry or challenge inherited narratives?
How does African heritage influence the creative process?
How do diasporic artists navigate the space between ancestral ties and personal autonomy?
The exhibition showcases how African artists engage with cultural memory, myth, displacement, and globalism, offering bold responses through painting, photography, and sculpture.
