Red I (Gathering the Self)
Red explores the complex relationship between identity, memory, vulnerability, and transformation. Through the recurring image of a female figure interacting with a vibrant red cloth, the series examines the ways individuals carry, conceal, protect, and ultimately negotiate their lived experiences.
The red fabric functions as both burden and refuge. At times it obscures the figure, shielding her from the world, it becomes a symbol of inherited histories, emotional weight, resilience, and self-discovery. The repeated gestures of wrapping, holding, lifting, and unveiling suggest an ongoing dialogue between concealment and revelation.
On this series the figure begins an intimate act of self-construction, drawing the cloth around her as though preparing to carry the weight of memory and experience.
