We do say that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. A subjective point of view that has no straightforward answer. People have been lost in the definition of beauty that they either see themselves as not enough undervaluing themselves and seek extreme measures to be "beautiful" and others overvalue themselves and place themselves or place by others on a pedestal "more beautiful than Aphrodite" that others are beneath them.
I was once on the lesser other side thinking I wasn't good looking because of my dark complexion and detest my skin color that all because of the concept of beauty that has been indoctrinated by the society... My brother is light skinned and was deemed handsome and I was sidelined. We need to ponder what is "true beauty" outside of the subjectives and that's what this series of painting is meant to reflect on.
