About the Artwork
In this series, I explore the human face as a landscape of memory, identity, and transformation. These portraits carries fragments of green across the skin—marks that symbolize the quiet but persistent presence of nature within us. To me, these marks represent growth, ancestry, and the unseen forces that shape who we become.
While the figures differ in age, gender, and social position, the green traces unite them. They suggest that beneath our constructed identities, our clothing, professions, and societal roles, there exists a deeper connection to the natural world and to one another. The marks emerge like living fragments breaking through the surface, reminding us that human beings are not separate from nature but part of its continuous evolution.
My work often investigates the encounter between humanity and the organic world. In this body of work, the green forms function as visual interruptions, symbols of life insisting on its presence within the human body. They represent growth, change, and the layered histories carried within every individual.
Through these portraits, I invite viewers to reflect on the idea that identity is not fixed. Instead, it is something constantly evolving, shaped by time, experience, culture, and our deep-rooted connection to the earth.
Ultimately, these works are about becoming: the quiet transformation that lives beneath the skin, connecting us all to a shared human and natural existence.
