The circle of touch and quietly dying inside. This piece tells a story of a good friend from my college days. She bore the scars and burden, but for a while I shared in it. It was my first contact with a young lady who was repeatedly sexually abused as a child and into her teenage years by her guardian and his friend whenever he came to visit. Saddness dawned inside of me because her mother remained quiet about it, her guardian's wife was quiet when she knew, and my good friend chose to be quiet because that was the only world she knew, she had nothing and she needed their support. It was a circle of touch and quietly dying inside.
