Gloire Ndongala Kanga, born on July 29, 1992, in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, is a distinguished Congolese artist known for his compelling commentary on humanity’s relationship with the environment. He holds a Diplôme d'Etat in Electricity and graduated in Fine Arts from the Académie des Beaux-Arts de Kinshasa, majoring in Painting in 2015. Kanga has showcased his work in numerous exhibitions, including Dimension Plurielle in Wallonie Bruxelles (2014, 2016), and various thematic exhibitions on environmental issues and diseases such as sickle cell disease at MDF/TMB (2015). He has also exhibited internationally in Paris at Galerie Pépites d'Afrique (2019), Victuaille Confinement 0.2 (2019), and Pullman Tour Eiffel's Frammes Brasserie (2020). In 2021, his works were featured at Stanley's Auction in Belgium and the La Renaissance exhibition at TMB, Kinshasa. He continued to gain international acclaim with exhibitions at the Museum of African and Asian Arts in Belgium (2021), the Wekre Collective in Burkina Faso (2022), and Galerie Art Brazza in Congo-Brazzaville (2022). His recent works were part of the Festival International DOW'ART in Benin and a collective exhibition in the USA (2023). Kanga's artistic approach is deeply rooted in raising awareness about environmental issues and the dangers of pollution and climate change. His works reflect his concerns about the emergence of viral diseases such as HIV, Ebola, and Coronavirus. Through his vibrant use of acrylic and oil paints and intricate paper collages, he creates a diverse chromatic cosmos intended to awaken consciousness and inspire proactive measures against the challenges facing our planet.
