About Lucas Olugbenga
Lucas Olaolu Olugbenga is a Nigerian abstract expressionist painter who hailed from Osun state. He his an alumna of the Ife Art school. Lucas is recognized for his action paintings, use of vibrant, unusual colours and media in a bid to express his intriguing mind. He self styled his works timescape, drawing inspiration from his own creative process and constantly argumenting as he believes his art is alive and speaks to him. Lucas is fascinated by unique behaviours and stories emerging from his environment which sometimes reflect in his art. Many of stories are portrayed allegorical metaphors as camouflaged silhouettes. His works have featured several art exhibits such as: See beyond seeing, Ondo State, 2022, Life in my City, Ondo State 2023, Livingspring Fest, Obafemi Awolowo University, 2024. He continually pushes the boundaries of his practice.ARTIST STATEMENT I strive to inspire a sense of community, understanding, and empowerment, helping individuals to navigate life's challenges with greater ease, hope, and resilience. Through aesthetic therapy, I believe we can unlock new avenues for healing, growth, and self-discovery, leading to a more compassionate, creative, and fulfilling existence.
