Art X Lagos 2024: A Journey into the Heart of African Creativity

by Queenswill Bestman Oct 17, 2024

Art X Lagos 2024, now in its ninth edition, is set to take place from October 31st to November 3rd at the prestigious Federal Palace in Lagos. This year’s theme, “Promised Lands,” invites attendees on a transformative journey through African creativity, seamlessly blending visual art, music, cinema, and intellectual discourse. More than just an art fair, this edition promises a bold exploration of African identity, freedom, and discovery within the global art context. Expect an immersive experience that showcases the continent’s cultural evolution and celebrates the rich tapestry of artistic expression that Africa has to offer.

From the vibrant streets of Lagos to the creative hubs of London, Harare, and Cotonou, this year’s exhibition invites art lovers, collectors, and cultural enthusiasts to engage with works that reflect Africa’s past, present, and future.

Over the course of four days, over 30 artists, presented by 10 invited exhibitors from across Africa and its diaspora, will showcase groundbreaking work that challenges how we think about African identity and artistic expression. Art X Lagos is a unique gathering of visionary artists who use their work to interrogate cultural narratives and influence global perspectives.

One of the major highlights of the fair is the Access ART X Prize, a prestigious platform that fosters emerging African artists and talent from the diaspora. As applications for the 2024 edition open in September, this prize continues to nurture the next generation of African artists, providing them with critical support and global exposure.
