What security measures do you have in place for payments?

We take security very seriously and have implemented a number of measures to
ensure the safety of your payment information. For example, all payment
transactions are encrypted and sent over a secure connection (HTTPS).
Art.Africa provides an escrow service for the monies/payment made to the artist,
the funds are held on account and paid out on successful completion of the sales
transaction, validated proof of shipment (tracking number) and signed delivery.
Additionally, we use payment gateways such as Stripe, PayPal, Google Pay, and
Apple Pay, which are known for their industry-standard encryption, advanced
security measures, security protocols and fraud detection capabilities to protect
user data and ensure secure transactions. These include:
Transport Layer Security (TLS): Stripe uses TLS 1.2 or higher, which is the standard
protocol used to encrypt and secure data transmitted over the internet. This
encryption protocol ensures that sensitive information, such as credit card details,
are securely transmitted between the customer’s browser and Stripe’s servers
Secure Sockets Layer (SSL): Uses SSL certificates to secure its website and API. SSL
creates a secure connection between a web server and a browser, ensuring that all
data transmitted between the two remains private and protected from
eavesdropping or tampering.
Advanced Fraud Detection and Prevention: Uses advanced machine learning
algorithms and fraud detection tools to prevent fraudulent transactions and protect
users’ data from potential threats.
Tokenisation: Uses tokenisation to protect sensitive customer information, such as
credit card details. This means that instead of storing actual credit card numbers,
the payment gateway stores a unique token that represents the card. This token can
be used for transactions without exposing the actual card number, significantly
reducing the risk of fraud or data breaches.
